Time Management - Part 4

I've told you all about my ideas around time management and my little experiment to test it out. So, not it's time to come clean on how the system is working.
The first day it went amazingly well. Sometimes I had to force myself to take a break because I felt like I was on a roll. But I think actually forcing myself to take a break was genius. I was able to come down a little bit and reengage the next session more energized. Also, if force me to break a little perfectionist tendencies what I wanted to keep going on something even though I wasn't really making much more progress.
The second day, though, was a little different though. For a variety of reasons beyond my control, my schedule changed faster than I could manage and worst of all I didn't spend as much time in the morning setting up the different sessions as I would have liked. As a result, the system broke down a little bit. I felt like I got stuck and was really frustrated.
As a result of that, I made a few little tweaks. I tried to look ahead a day or two. I know not to try to plan too far ahead because that's just a recipe for disappointment. And I have also tried scheduling tomorrow's tasks the night before. That seems to work really well when I do it, but I don't always have the energy at the end of the day. Frankly, I'm still working that part out.
Some of the major benefits I've found have been in setting the clock for one hour, working for 90-minutes, and then taking a break. The breaks really, truly, actually recharge me and I don't feel any guilt. PLUS, knowing there is a break coming gives me 3 or 4 little "pushes" a day to wrap a few things up.
All-in-all, I have to say I'm pleased with it.
