Musings

Mixing it up

Every once in a while, something happens to remind me that we really are doing something different here at Emotus. For example, the format of our Check In meetings; we've had people request special "select" groups - groups to people who are working on their website, or to people with a certain number of years of experience, or in a particular industry.
To lots of people, this seems like the best way to do things. After all, you are gathering together expertise - creating a "mastermind" group. But our check-in meetings are based on a very different philosophy.
On Foolishness

It seems like everyone is looking for "the" answer: that single, unchanging, infallible nugget that makes everything else easy. I know I wouldn't mind. I’ve been asking the same questions for almost 30 years now with little sign of a solid, definitive answer. Who am I? What’s it all about? Who are all these crazy people? And I pretty consistently get answers to my questions. The problem is that all the answers I get contradict the other ones. Hell, most of them contradict themselves. “Wisdom is knowing what you do not know.” “To find, we must stop seeking.” “You are unique, just like everyone else.”
Tuning In the Signal

I have always considered myself a technophile. I love gadgets and can't wait to install the computer from Star Trek in my home. But lately I am beginning to worry that progress might be robbing us of an important metaphor - tuning in an AM radio station.
How Crazy Is This?

From time to time[1], I question my own sanity. Those of you who know me well are probably thinking “about bloody time.” The problem is, the minute I start questioning my sanity, I start to wonder about sanity in general. I mean, what is crazy anyway?
